Description

Creamy Garlic Potatoes are rich, tender slices of potato baked in a velvety garlic-infused cream sauce. The perfect comforting side dish for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Potatoes

  • 2 lbs Yukon Gold or russet potatoes, thinly sliced

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

For the Sauce

  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream

  • ½ cup whole milk

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella (optional)

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat and Prepare Dish
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.

  • Slice the Potatoes
Thinly slice the potatoes into ⅛-inch rounds using a knife or mandoline. Soak in cold water to prevent browning, then drain and pat dry.

  • Cook the Garlic Cream Sauce
In a saucepan, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant. Add cream, milk, salt, pepper, and onion powder. Stir in cheeses until melted and smooth. Remove from heat.

  • Layer the Potatoes
Arrange half of the potato slices in the baking dish. Pour half the sauce over. Repeat with remaining potatoes and sauce.

  • Bake Covered
Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes to allow potatoes to soften.

  • Bake Uncovered
Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbly.

  • Rest and Garnish
Let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with chopped parsley to finish.

Notes

For best results, use a mandoline for even slicing. You can prepare the sauce ahead of time and refrigerate it for up to 24 hours. Add bacon, caramelized onions, or swap in sweet potatoes for variation.
