Description

Fluffy Bunny Buns are soft, sweet rolls shaped like adorable bunnies—perfect for Easter, spring brunch, or a fun baking activity with kids. Lightly sweet and delightfully cute, these buns are as enjoyable to eat as they are to make.

For the Dough:

  • 3 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Decoration:

  • Raisins or chocolate chips (for eyes)

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp water


Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast
    Combine warm milk and sugar in a small bowl. Sprinkle in the yeast and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

  2. Mix the Dough
    In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, and vanilla. Knead by hand or with a mixer for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  3. First Rise
    Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

  4. Shape the Bunnies
    Divide dough into 12 pieces. Roll each into a rope and coil into a spiral. Form a small ball for the head, attach it, and snip ears. Press raisins or chocolate chips in for eyes.

  5. Second Rise
    Place on parchment-lined baking sheets. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.

  6. Egg Wash and Bake
    Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix egg and water to make egg wash, then brush it on buns. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. Cool and Serve
    Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

To make the buns extra fluffy, don’t skip the rise time. Chill shaped buns overnight to bake fresh in the morning. You can add lemon zest or almond extract for extra flavor.
