Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) whole milk
  • 1/2 cup (60g) panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp (5g) garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
  • 1/4 tsp (1g) black pepper
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) bourbon
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) low-sodium ketchup
  • 1/4 cup (80ml) honey
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp (15g) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp (5g) smoked paprika

Instructions:

  1. Combine the lean ground beef, milk, panko, egg, and seasonings in a bowl. Mix gently by hand until just incorporated.
  2. Roll the mixture into 1-inch spheres.
  3. Brown the meatballs in a skillet over medium-high heat until a dark crust forms on all sides.
  4. Whisk the bourbon, low-sodium ketchup, honey, vinegar, Worcestershire, and paprika in a separate bowl until smooth.
  5. Pour the glaze mixture over the meatballs in the slow cooker.
  6. Cook on Low for 2 hours (or simmer on the stove for 30 minutes) until the sauce has reduced into a thick, sticky coating that clings to the meat.
