Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon (12g) baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon (12g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (6g) salt
  • 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
  • 4 tablespoons (57g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 tablespoons (28g) melted butter
  • 1 pinch (1g) flaky sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until no large clumps remain.
  3. Pour in the whole milk and the melted butter. Stir with a spoon or spatula just until the flour streaks disappear; the batter should be thick and slightly lumpy.
  4. Using a scoop or large spoon, drop rounded mounds of dough (about 2 tablespoons each) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart. Bake for 12–15 minutes until the tops are deep mahogany gold.
  5. Remove from the oven and immediately brush the tops with the remaining melted butter. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired.
