Ingredients:
- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, melted and warm
- 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup (100g) Dutch-process cocoa powder, sifted
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 3/4 cup (130g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides. In a large bowl, combine the warm melted butter and sugar. Whisk vigorously for about 30 seconds until the mixture looks like wet sand.
- Add the eggs one at a time, whisking thoroughly after each addition. Once all eggs are incorporated, add the vanilla extract and whisk for another full minute until the batter looks glossy and slightly pale.
- Sift the cocoa powder, flour, and salt directly into the wet ingredients. Use a silicone spatula to gently fold the mixture until just combined and no white streaks remain. Fold in the chocolate chips if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
