Ingredients:

  • 3 cups (375g) unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups (355ml) warm water
  • 1.5 tsp (9g) fine sea salt
  • 0.5 tsp (2g) active dry yeast

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and yeast.
  2. Pour in the warm water and stir with a wooden spoon until a shaggy, sticky ball forms and no dry flour remains.
  3. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap or a damp kitchen towel and let the dough rest at room temperature for 3 hours until it has doubled in size.
  4. Place an empty Dutch oven with its lid into the oven and preheat to 450°F (232°C).
  5. Turn the risen dough onto a piece of parchment paper, gently shaping it into a rough ball.
  6. Carefully lift the parchment and drop the dough into the preheated Dutch oven.
  7. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 12–15 minutes until the crust is deep golden brown and the bottom sounds hollow when tapped.
