Description

Crispy chicken bites coated in a sticky honey pepper glaze that’s both sweet and spicy. This quick and satisfying dish brings bold flavor to your table with every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken

  • lbs boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • ½ cup cornstarch

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Honey Pepper Sauce

  • ½ cup honey

  • ¼ cup soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar (or white vinegar)

  • 2 tablespoons ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (slurry)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken
Season chicken with salt and pepper. In one bowl, mix cornstarch and flour. In another, beat the eggs.

  • Coat the Chicken
Dip chicken pieces into the beaten eggs, then dredge in the flour-cornstarch mix to coat thoroughly.

  • Fry Until Crispy
Heat oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry the chicken in batches until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.

  • Make the Sauce
In a pan over medium heat, combine honey, soy sauce, vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and garlic. Stir and simmer.

  • Thicken the Sauce
Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce is thickened and glossy.

  • Toss and Serve
Add fried chicken to the sauce and toss until well-coated. Serve hot with rice or veggies.

Notes

Double-frying the chicken can make it even crispier. Adjust red pepper flakes to control heat. The sauce can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 5 days.
