Ingredients:
- 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp (12g) granulated sugar
- 1 tsp (6g) salt
- 2 ¼ tsp (7g) active dry yeast
- ½ tsp (3g) baking soda
- 1 ½ cups (355ml) warm water
- 2 tbsp (28g) melted unsalted butter
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, yeast, and baking soda.
- Pour in the warm water and melted butter. Stir with a spatula just until the flour is moistened; the dough should be sticky and gloopy.
- Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let the dough rest in a warm, draft-free spot for 30 to 45 minutes until it visibly expands and shows small bubbles on the surface.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease two 8x4 inch loaf pans or line them with parchment paper.
- Gently scoop the batter into the pans, dividing it evenly between the two.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until the tops are mahogany-colored and the loaves sound hollow when tapped.
- Let the loaves cool in the pans for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
